Business Development Fulltime

Calcey Technologies is a boutique software engineering company providing dedicated, agile teams of software engineers, from Colombo, Sri Lanka to international clients across the globe. Founded in 2002, Calcey predominantly serves fast-growing, small to medium scale technology companies (see client portfolio). Through its 200 strong team, Calcey provides the full suite of services and skills for building complex, bespoke software including; UX design, business analysis, software architecture, development, and testing. Expertise in data visualization, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) were recently added to this services portfolio. Calcey’s Colombo office requires a Manager – Business Development.

Responsibilities

Calcey’s early clients are predominantly technology companies from US West Coast. Since 2016 Calcey has expanded its presence and now has active clients in the US East Coast, the UK, and Sweden. Calcey primarily acquires new business via referrals from existing clients and a network of sales partners spread across its key markets. The Manager –  Business Development is the first contact for all new leads and referrals, and will take ownership for qualifying opportunities and managing their progression through all stages of the sales life cycle. The position includes responsibility for managing relationships with both sales partners as well as current and past clients to maintain goodwill and a steady flow of new leads. Close collaboration with the marketing team to brainstorm and execute new campaigns and content that drive brand visibility among target customers is also part of the role.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a business development role acquiring international clients. Experience in the software industry would be a plus
  • Be a university degree holder (from a local or foreign university) or a self-learner passionate about sales, business development, and strategy 
  • Ability to build a quick rapport with global clients, understand their needs, initiate and follow up on sales-related conversations 
  • Familiarity with the technology industry and ability to understand Calcey’s offering and positioning 
  • Experience with independently prospecting for new sales leads and sales partners. Previous international business development experience in Calcey’s target markets is a plus
  • Ability to take charge of sales conversations with new leads to understand their technology resourcing needs and the requirements for software solutions they wish to develop, drawing on inputs from the technical team when required
  • Experience with nurturing sales leads through the full sales life cycle up to final contract negotiation and sign off
  • Excellent written and communication skills. Ability to prepare and deliver sales pitches and proposals 
  • Experience with drafting contracts, handling pricing and negotiations to close sales 
  • Experience with maintaining up-to-date CRM records of sales activity and keeping internal stakeholders updated via regular cadence calls
  • Previous experience within a sales environment involving international sales partners is a plus. On-boarding new partners, liaising with partners to service sales leads they introduce, and planning and executing sales activities in collaboration with partners are part of the role
  • Ability to provide input and feedback to the work of the marketing team to ensure alignment with customer needs and values

Compensation: A highly attractive compensation package pegged to the US dollar awaits the selected candidate. Compensation includes commissions on new sales
