Mangala Karunaratne (Chairman and Chief Executive Officer)
Mangala Karunaratne is the founder of Calcey Technologies, which has grown over 100% year over year due to successful on-time, on budget deliveries. Prior to Calcey, Mangala held various Internet engineering and management roles at fortune 1000 high technology companies and silicon valley Internet startups. Some of his achievements were global project deliveries including data warehousing for business intelligence objectives of Nortel Networks, e-commerce solutions, and integration of enterprise legacy systems with the Internet.
Mangala also founded eConceptions, Inc. In 1999, co-founded OneClickTel.com, a business-to-business telecommunications company, worked at GolfWeb.com, and Nortel Networks. Mangala also serves on the board of directors of Karunaratne & Sons, one of the top five printing companies in Sri Lanka and as a Trustees of Karuna Trust, a charitable foundation dedicated to helping disadvantaged people in Sri Lanka.
Matthew McLean (Head of Business Development)
Matt McLean is the founder and CEO of Nuikea, a mobile application development and mobile application review site. He also serves as the head of Business Development and a board member for Calcey Technologies. Matt began his career in technology in 1998 as a web manager with Nortel Networks and later as a business manager for CNET Networks. He then combined his high-tech experience with his lifelong entrepreneurial spirit to co-found CompareNetworks in 2000. As Chief Operating Officer Matt was instrumental in raising CompareNetworks’ $1,000,000 seed round despite the wariness of web-based markets in a post-bubble economy. With Matt’s help, CompareNetworks grew to six vertical marketplaces. The company now generates $12 million in annual revenue. Matt played a critical role in the company’s recent raising of a $10 million in private equity financing.
Ruwan Rajapakse (Vice President, Professional Services)
Ruwan is responsible for end-to-end project delivery, human resources development and the overall quality of work done at Calcey’s offshore development center in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Prior to Calcey, Ruwan was responsible for the setup and expansion in delivery capacity of several leading Colombo based software companies. He was a key contributor to the successful establishment of Pearson eCollege Sri Lanka, wholly owned subsidiary of Pearson Education, and Mazarin. Ruwan has over 12 years of software development experience, and his core areas of expertise are Project Management Practices (Agile, Scrum, RUP, XP), Product Development for Internet/Mobile and Human Resources Development in software companies.
Chamindu Munasinghe (Principal Software Architect)
Chamindu is responsible for all technical solutions provided by Calcey from an architectural and design standpoint. He is also the principal developer of the Calcey team. Chamindu counts over 10 years of experience in software engineering, serving progressively challenging development roles in many software companies. Prior to Calcey, Chamindu served as an Associate Software Architect at Teamwork Technologies, as a Technical Lead at Eurocenter DDC and as a Software Engineer at Virtusa Corp.
M. Sugunackumar (General Manager, Finance and Administration)
Kumar is responsible for the finance and administrative aspect of the company. Kumar has over 20 years of experience as a Financial Accountant. Prior to Calcey, Kumar was Deputy General Manager at Electrolux, Sri Lanka, Accountant at Abans, Sri Lanka and Accountant at Cornel Foods. Kumar is a Certified Accountant of the International Association of Book-Keepers (IAB) UK.
Ravi Karunaratne (Director)
Ravi is the Chairman and Managing Director of Karunaratne & Sons Ltd. (K&S Ltd.), one of the largest Printing Companies in Sri Lanka. Ravi has been responsible for the rapid growth of K&S during the last ten years. Under Ravi’s management K&S has won numerous Printing Awards for excellence, including the National Business Excellence Award for Printing by the Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce. Also he has transformed K&S into a state of the art printing press that includes CTP, computer controlled full color Heidelberg printing machines and a professional workforce.
