Calcey was formed in 2002 by Mangala Karunaratne. His goal was to create a company that corporations could rely on to take ownership and get their products to the market. With experience in outsourcing projects, while working in the Silicon Valley, Mangala knew he had the knowledge and experience to make Calcey succeed.

Calcey Technologies is a boutique software product engineering firm specialized in developing Mobile, Cloud and Web solutions for companies worldwide. We adopt cutting-edge technologies while applying lateral thinking to our product solutions and agile engineering process. Founder & CEO

Mangala started his career in Silicon Valley, where he held various Internet engineering and management roles at Fortune 1000 technology companies and dot-coms. In addition to Calcey, he founded eConceptions, RideLanka, OneClickTel, ShopMagik and a few other companies. Mangala faced many challenges when working with offshore engineers from San Francisco, and was inspired to start a company that ‘gets it’.

Aside from his position as CEO of Calcey, Mangala serves as the co-chairman of FARO (Foundation for Advancing Rural Opportunity); a nonprofit organization, which actively assists rural youth in Sri Lanka to find sustainable employment in the outsourcing industry. He also sits on the board of directors of Karunaratne & Sons; one of the top five printing companies in Sri Lanka.

Ruwan Rajapakse

Ruwan Rajapakse

Vice President

Ruwan is responsible for professional services and organizational development at Calcey. He was instrumental in expanding the delivery capacity of several Colombo-based offshore software development centers, with 16 years of hands-on experience in project and operations management. He loves to “build” software companies from the grassroots level by matching business and contractual requirements with emerging technologies and human talent.

Ruwan is a “thought leader” and “lateral thinker” who is innovative in his approach to organizational processes and practices. He has been with Calcey Technologies since June 2010. Prior to Calcey, Ruwan has served in key management positions at Pearson eCollege Sri Lanka, Virtusa Corp., Mazarin, ShipXpress Inc. and e-wis.

Chamindu Munasinghe

Chamindu Munasinghe

CTO

With over 10 years in challenging software engineering roles, Chamindu joined Calcey with extensive experience at some of the best software companies in Sri Lanka. He applies his experience as the principal developer for the Calcey team helping guide technical solutions from an architectural and design standpoint. Throughout his career Chamindu has worked on projects in Norway, Australia and North America providing him with an invaluable international perspective.

Kumar Sugunackumar

General Manager - Finance & Administration

Kumar is the master of finance and administration at Calcey. With over 20 years experience as a financial accountant, Kumar worked at Electrolux, Abans and Cornel Foods prior to joining Calcey. He is also a Certified Accountant of the International Association of Book-Keepers (IAB) UK.

Matthew McLean

Matthew McLean

Advisor

Matt’s career in technology along with his entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found and lead as Chief Operating Officer of CompareNetworks. He was instrumental in raising the company despite the wariness of web-based markets in a post-bubble economy. He has helped them grow into 6 vertical marketplaces and now generates USD 18 million in annual revenue. Based in Silicon Valley, Matt plays a strategic role in Calcey’s growth, helping expand Calcey’s footprint in the North American market.
